Is Trading Adrian Gonzalez in the Best Interest of the San Diego Padres?

If you were to ask me last week if the San Diego Padres would trade first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, my answer would have been a resounding no. But as we near closer to the trade deadline I continue to become less confident.

Yes, Adrian is the face of the Padres franchise and a fan favorite, but of all the players in the San Diego lineup he holds the most value and could get the Padres minor league system back on track.

For a team that is now trying to rebuild their minor league system, they are in quite a bit of disarray with little pitching prospects to speak of besides Matt Latos and most position players already with the major league club.

Let's face it. The San Diego Padres are not going to be contenders next year and likely won't be for the next couple, so maybe...
