San Francisco 49ers: An Early Preview of Trade Deadline Moves
In recent years, the NFL has seldom seen any roster-altering trades go through at the mid-season deadline.
But in 2012, the league and the Players Association agreed on a trade deadline extension from Week Six of the regular season to Week Eight.
With that, clubs now have an extra two weeks—now at the midpoint of most NFL regular season schedules— to determine if moving players in an effort to bolster their rosters is a worthwhile venture towards a playoff run or if they should go with who they have.
That doesn't always mean that not trading means inaction.
