San Diego Padres: Chris Young to Undergo Shoulder Surgery
A decision has finally been made on San Diego Padres' right hander Chris Young. That decision is for the pitcher to undergo surgery on his injured right shoulder at Scripps Clinic in San Diego, which will take place this coming Monday.
The Padres were hoping that Young would be able to heal on his own, but after two unsuccessful side pitching sessions, the Padres shut him down and hoped that time off the mound would help the shoulder heal.
When it didn't, the decision was easy for Young as he decided it was best to have the surgery and be 100 percent ready to go for Spring Training next year.
"It got to the point where I wasn't going to pitch again this season and I wanted to be 100 percent ready for next year," Young told MLB.com's Corey Bock.
