St. Louis Takes the Series In San Diego, 3 Games To 1
Progress can be hard to see some days, but winning one game this last weekend against the Cardinals showed that the Padres are making some.
San Diego pitching kept Albert Pujols mostly under control, which is a feat any team would be happy with. And Pujols did not put any Padres in the hospital during this series, which is always a plus.
Pujols has a knack of bashing line drives off of Padres players, or running them over.
The Padres had a chance to gain a split, leaving the tying run at the plate on Sunday, but could not get it done in the clutch. Padres infielder Luis Rodriguez struck out with the bases loaded, but Tony Larussa was sweating it, and it's a step.
