2010 NFL Draft: San Francisco 49ers’ Picks Big and Bad—In a Good Way
First, let me say this: Mr. Davis, Mr. Iupati, welcome to San Francisco.
The 49ers, as Tim Kawakami phrased it, went "big and boring" last night. Both picks were probably stretches given that the run was on pass rushers this year and not at offensive tackle.
A guard at No. 17 is hasty, and the tackle the 49er's got cost a first and fourth rounder, but you didn't see me crying into my beer.
I believe it was Mark Purdy who wrote, "The NFL draft forces teams to be honest and open about their needs." I think the 49ers believed they needed help at O-line.
The gruesome twosome, although young and untested in the NFL, brings a certain attitude with them that I'm sure Mike Singletary found appealing.
