Jackie Robinson, 42 and the Phillies: 66 Years Later

It took me awhile to go and see 42—the highly regarded film that tells the story of Jackie Robinson breaking Major League Baseball’s color barrier, which was symbolic of so much more—and I was happy for the experience.

Even if his career played out before my birth, Jackie Robinson has long been one of my favorite players and certainly would be in my personal Mount Rushmore of all-timers. If you’re interested, I’d also find room for the one-and-only Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron (my first sports hero, and the main reason why the number 44 has always been magical) and then some kind of tie among a whole bunch of Bleacher Report - Los Angeles Dodgers
