Randy Wolf’s Bat and Arm Propel Los Angeles Dodgers to Victory

When Randy Wolf first joined the LA Dodgers in 2007, then-manager Grady Little said he might use his new pitcher as a pinch-hitter at times. Today's game between the Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks makes it easy to see why.

Wolf's job is to pitch, and pitch he did. He gave up five hits and three runs and fanned 10. He even set down 20 straight batters at one point.

In addition, he had a day that many position players may even be jealous of. He went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, three RBI, and two runs. In other words, folks, LA's starting pitcher was only a triple away from hitting for the cycle when Dodgers manager Joe Torre opted to pull him in the bottom of the 8th in favor of relief pitcher Guillermo Mota.
