Brian Westbrook Goes to San Francisco 49ers
It's official, Brian Westbrook has landed with the 49ers. The RB who has been plagued with injuries recently has put end to speculation by joining the 49ers on a one-year, $1.25 million guaranteed contract, with a further $1.25 million in incentives.
Westbrook will replace the hole left by 2009 third-round pick Glen Coffee, who has walked away from football to return to college.
Westbrook has failed to recapture the success of his 2007 2,104-yard season, and it will be interesting to see what he can produce in San Fran. If nothing else, the tandem of Frank Gore and Brian Westbrook should strike a bit of fear in defenses as well as give Alex Smith more confidence in all facets of the Niners' improving game.
