In order to find success in the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, teams often need to find key contributions from unexpected places. Regular season performance does not always correlate to postseason success. It is all a matter of peaking at the right time. Fans can forgive an awful lot of regular season gaffes if you step up when it matters most and wind up hoisting the Cup over your head. Every year, the teams that go the furthest seem to get contributions from players who seemed to struggle in the past—in the regular season or in previous playoff experience.
