Randy Johnson’s First Two Wins
In commemoration of Randy Johnson joining the 300-win club by beating his first team, I've gathered up some information about wins one and two, and here's some excerpts.
The first win was in Montreal, on Sept. 15, 1988. It was a 9-4 win over the Pirates: the Big Unit pitched five innings and allowed two solo homers to Glenn Wilson, who happened to have been traded from the Mariners to the Pirates in July. Of course, Johnson would be traded to the Mariners in 1989.
His first pitch was a fastball for a strike to 5'7" Pittsburgh leadoff hitter John Cangelosi.
